Community Life

Real community is not a programme — it is the daily, ordinary, extraordinary business of choosing to do life together.

Weiming community gathering together

A Family, Not Just a Fellowship

At Weiming Christian Fellowship, we use the word "family" deliberately. Families celebrate together, grieve together, serve together, and hold one another accountable to become who they are meant to be. That is precisely the community we are working to build in Burnaby.

Our community life encompasses formal programmes and informal friendships, structured mentorship and spontaneous conversations over dim sum. We are a people who show up for one another — not because we have to, but because we genuinely want to.

The Culture We Are Building

Radical Welcome

We work hard to ensure that every person who walks through our doors — or encounters us in the community — feels genuinely seen, valued, and wanted. There are no insiders here.

Honest Vulnerability

We believe that authentic community requires the courage to be honest about struggles, doubts, and failures. We create safe spaces where people can be real without fear of judgement.

Mutual Accountability

We lovingly hold one another to our highest commitments — to God, to our families, and to our community — because we know that growth rarely happens in isolation.

Cross-Cultural Unity

Our fellowship spans Mandarin, Cantonese, and English-speaking backgrounds. We celebrate this diversity as a gift, learning from one another and discovering the richness of the global Church.

Intergenerational Connection

We resist the tendency to silo generations. Our elders and young adults sit together, serve together, and learn from one another — because wisdom flows in both directions.

Joyful Celebration

We celebrate milestones — births, weddings, graduations, baptisms, and quiet personal victories — because gratitude and joy are spiritual disciplines, not optional extras.

Small Groups: Where Life Really Happens

Sunday worship is the celebration of our community. Small groups are the kitchen table of it — the place where you can take off your Sunday-best and be honest about your Monday-morning life.

Our small groups meet weekly in homes across Burnaby. Each group is a microcosm of the church itself: people of different ages, backgrounds, and life stages, united by a common commitment to Scripture, prayer, and one another.

Groups are offered in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, at various times throughout the week. We will help you find a group that fits your schedule and season of life.

Your First Step into Community

We know that walking into a new church can feel daunting. That is why we go out of our way to make first-time visitors feel comfortable, welcomed, and unrushed. No pressure — just a warm hello and a genuine invitation to explore.

After a Sunday service, look for one of our Welcome Team members near the entrance. They will be happy to answer your questions, introduce you to others, and help you find your next step at Weiming.
